As one of the most beautiful places to visit, Destin features clear water, white sandy beaches, and is called home by many. Top Notch Beach Access Sites Probably the most common reason people visit the area is for the beaches. With so many water activities or sports to do, you could spend every day on the beach and not get bored. There are many Destin public beach access points that should make a list as far as places to see and spend the day. Depending on what you prefer, there is something for everyone. If you desire a more secluded beach experience, Princess Beach-Beach Access is possibly one of the best spots you will find. Another great place to visit, if you are more into a crowded spot with shorter walking distances is Miramar Regional Beach Access.
Fort Pickens While much of what there is to do in Destin centers around the water, Fort Pickens should be on the list too. This historic landmark was a former military base on Santa Rosa Island. Events are going on throughout the year at this terrific location, but going to visit during regular hours is just as fun. Self-guided and guided tours are available, and the attraction is open from sunrise to sunset. While much of the area looks like older ruins, it is still undeniably a place that once stood one of the most substantial military locations in the Gulf.
Big Kahuna’s Water & Adventure Park As mentioned above, much of what happens in Destin centers around water. But the beach life isn’t for everyone. If you are more into staying poolside, having interactive attractions like slides and wave pools, then you have to visit Big Kahuna’s Water & Adventure Park. With so much to do at the park, you could easily spend days here, and the kids will always be entertained. While Fort Pickens and the beaches are free to access, there is an admission charge for the water park. However, it is well worth the admission to get a full day in the sun, with all the amenities close by including snacks.
